Medium to full purple-red; fragrant berry and earth aromas are joined by hints of leaf and mint on the bouquet, the palate with very sweet raspberry and blackberry flavours; needs time to knit together. 45 per cent Shiraz, 38 per cent Merlot, 17 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon.
A new offering, the 2001 La Renoux is a blend of 45% Shiraz (vinified and aged in American oak), 38% Merlot, and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon (both aged in French wood). This stylish, medium to full-bodied, saturated ruby/purple-colored offering displays excellent density and ripeness as well as good integration of oak. It is built more along the lines of an exuberant Bordeaux than a typical Barossa Valley Grenache or Shiraz. Consume it over the next 10-12 years.
